Dear Readers.
I encountered an ironic moment this morning. We writers love irony, yes?
Yesterday I posted Chapter 9 of my novel on Sections: BLOOD AND BLUE RIBBONS: A STORY OF THE BATTLE OF GETTYSBURG. The title of chapter 9 is a quote from that chapter as well as the title of this post. My novel addresses the courage of formerly enslaved residents of Gettysburg who had followed the stations of the Underground Railroad to what may have been the first station above the Mason-Dixon line in Pennsylvania: McAllister’s Mill. Though the mill no longer stands, the grounds might be open by request to the National Park Rangers who serve at the park, (though some rangers have been “released” under the new administration’s directives.)
This morning the following headline greeted me: Amid anti-DEI push, Trump’s National Park Service rewrites history of Underground Railroad’s history - The Washington Post

Thank you!! to readers liking my historical novel of 60,000 words. I have been inspired by a very rewarding career as a public school librarian, a career filled with books and young people, and by sharing historical events with visitors to the Gettysburg Battlefield, where I led guided tours for several years.
Hi Kat, I was a librarian in several schools from Gettysburg, PA to near Boston, and lastly Idaho.
you said you worked at a public school, may I know the name?
